Whoever feels like helping BY ALEX!

Dear teachers,

Katia and I were invited by Raquel, through Maria Eugênia and Carla Chaves, to write a journal, which has been made up of brief accounts of the everyday life at the Botafogo Branch, with a focus on the Experience Project. Basically, our job has been to collect our perceptions of what is going on at Cultura Botafogo and compile them into a file.

This has been going on for the past one and a half months. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to say anything regarding this project. Your contribution, which should be totally voluntary and spontaneous, could range from one sentence to a paragraph, in either Portuguese or English (I can handle some intermediate German). I understand we are all busy enough, but there might be some of you who may want to be heard. :0)

Well Raquel, setting a deadline sounds brilliant! That estates precisely how long we ( The Crew ) need to brainstorm nice ideas, hints and previous experiences! It also makes clear that we can’t wait that long to hear from the guys since the date that the Project will be *really* started ( games set, lounge ready… ) is on its way! First things first, I’d say that it sounds interesting to have access to the kind of games that are about to be used so some planning could be under the spotlight ( that would also give us an idea of each groups would fit into each game ). I’m all for trying to set some activities so we could have two small groups interacting at the same time in the lounge ( that would save that *I-am-so-shy* effect for the 5 minute activities to come ). We still have some time to work on the ideas, sure thing! But do remember dear fellas: “it’s funny how time flies”, so does Orland Orzabal sing at the end of a famous Tears for Fears tune!
Congratulations to you all, part of the Crew! So far, So Good!

Dear teachers,

Hi everyone! First of all, I’d like to thank you all for your enthusiasm and cooperation. It’s really nice to have such an encouraging atmosphere!

As Maria Eugenia and Carla said, let’s think about activities we’d like to carry out with students in the lounge (during class). We might consider the following issues:

What levels we are teaching and the profile of our students;
what will motivate students to explore the lounge;
how we will arouse their curiosity;
how much the activity we have in mind appeals to them;
how real communication will take place through these activities.

Well, I guess that’s basically it! Please post your ideas! Several heads think better than one and I’m counting on all of you!
